
Video is a killer application in Mainland China where ther are a reported 2.1 million users of mobile TV services. A quarter of a million of these are paid subscribers paying as little as $1.60 a month. It’s not really that surprising since most Chinese PMPs we have covered have video applications and feature a digital TV tuner. Wu Chunlei, CEO of Shanghai Dragon New Media, a subsidiary of Shanghai Media Group, observed one interesting fact: the Chinese use mobile TVs to catch up on their favorite TV shows and sports, not content specifically made-for-mobile.
